Billiken 12″ Unmasked Predator Review and Photo Shoot!
October 21st, 2005

Occasionally every collector just happens to be in the right place at the right time, and manages to score a piece for their collection that is very unique and special. I like to increase my chances of that happening by hanging out with as many Predator nuts as I possibly can, and with this particular Billiken kit, my recent membership to Clubhouse paid off within a couple of weeks! A guy named Vindicator has just posted pictures of his SECOND Predator he’s every built (did I mention this is only his second?) and it just blew my mind. It was a GORGEOUS build with a custom base and a paint application that screamed skill and talent. Ready for the icing on the cake? NO AIRBRUSH TOUCHED THIS! That’s right folks… the entire piece was done with 100% brush work. Needless to say, the thought that I could never do my own models because I suck at airbrushing has just been smashed! Even if I can be half as good as Vindicator, I’d still put out great pieces!
After some serious down in the dirt begging and flattering, this piece is now in my display case, although it was a bumpy ride getting it here. Unfortunately the rock formation on the base managed to come free (Good job USPS at beating the snot out of the box) and banged around damaging the paint on the base and the back of Mr. Predator’s legs. So I went and picked up some Testor’s acrylic paints, pulled out my long abandoned brushes (I used to paint oil paintings, draw, etc… years ago) and got down to work. After gluing a couple of chunks of rock that had chipped off and 3 rounds of drybrushing, the damage was repaired and we were in good shape! I let it dry for an hour and got down to some photography!
Before we get to the photos, I would also like to mention this kit is beautiful! The detailing of the armor is top notch and VERY precise and I LOVE the gauntlets! The positioning of the mandibles is also great and the face looks good. I’m a face guy, and man I hate deformed or poorly sculpted heads *cough* Palisades SE Predator *cough*. So, if this is a kit you’ve been thinking about picking up, it’s definitely worth your while if you can still find one laying around.
Photo time!!! Enjoy!
Hope you enjoyed the pics and my little review. Remember to leave your comments and be sure to check out the rest of my Predator Collectibles catalog at www.mytoycollection.com.

You know what - I’d pay serious money for someone with that sort of talent to teach me!
An incredible build - perfect PERFECT colouration.
How many Pred kits have Billiken released? - I don’t remember seeing this one before - but maybe it’s that the build is so exceptional I just don’t recognise it!!
Thanks for sharing (again!)
