Hey gang! Just got word from Predastore that their 2 Guns Cleaner kit featuring the Wolf from AVPR is officially complete and on the way from Narin… about time we got something new from Narin!

Today I am super happy to announce the release of a new kit produced by Predastore (The same folks behind the Double Axe and Aqua Hunter kits) called the 2 Guns Cleaner, which was sculpted by Narin and features the Wolf from AvPR standing knee deep in sludge, plasma cannons powered up and ready to rock on some alien ass! This was a very special project as Predastore asked me months ago if they could use my original Wolf kit as the base for this piece, and I was happy to give them the OK. This new pose with the weapons and liquid base looks KILLER and I love how this turned out. The kits are solid high quality resin and comes in 9 parts. THIS IS A LIMITED RELEASE of 50 kits only, and each kit includes a COA from Narin and Predastore. The kits are already cast and are currently en route to Predastore in Switzerland from Narin via surface, so please allow about 3 weeks for the kits to arrive. From there Predastore will inspect and box them up and they will be ready to roll. The kits are $175 each plus shipping and ship direct from Switzerland to you.

You can check out more pics of this kit by clicking the photo icon below:

Time to get back to business folks, and today I have a sexy new review of a helmet I received months ago from my good buddy Paul Thornton, aka Hez! This is a gorgeous and very inexpensive Gort style helmet based on one of the Lost Hunter Predators seen at the end of the Predator 2 movie known simply as the Gort Pred. (This helmet was actually made at SWS when they were doing P1) Read on to get the details on this helmet and how you can get one…

For whatever reason, I've always found it difficult to find a decent Gort helmet that was well crafted, well cast with a sweet paint up, and didn't cost a small fortune to own. So when Paul contacted me about a Gort style helmet he had recently completed and offered one to me for a review, I was all over it! By the way, I should apologize in advance to Paul for taking so long to put this review together, but thanks for being so patient with me!

UPDATE 02-07-2010: Sorry guys, I made an error on the pricing… the RAW helmet is $140, then FINISHED version as seen in this video is $240.

When I opened the box and unwrapped the latest addition to by bio collection (which has now been reduced to 2 helmets) I was immediately in love with this piece, it's gorgeous, especially for the price, which is way under $200! The helmet is cast in solid grey resin, with a shiny and smooth interior finish. The casting is thick enough to be durable, but not to thick that it would be heavy to wear on a costume. It's important to note that the casting is thick all the way to the edges, which makes the helmet less likely to get damaged if you're looking to wear this on a costume and lug it around to a convention hall. I've seen many helmets with solid thick castings, but were paper thin at the edges. The castings details are also very crisp… this helmet has a ton of little rivet details, lines and ribbing and all of it is clean with no details lost to air bubbles or other molding defects.

The helmet is thick but light, weighing maybe 2 or 3 lbs and measures 12" at it's widest point and has a height of about 19" snout to crown. This should definitely fit the average Predator latex mask with no trouble at all.

As always, I like my helmets ready to display right out of the box, so I ordered one fully painted with lenses installed. I've said this about Paul before and I will say it again, I absolutely LOVE the way he weathers his helmets, it looks phenomenal! The helmet is LOADED with tiny details in the weathering patterns and you can see he uses several paint colors, not just silver and black. He mixes it up in different spots making burn-type patterns and the overall effect is amazing and very realistic. So as usual, Paul's paint job rocks my socks, no complaints at all. And for the lenses, WOW! No dollar store glasses uses on this guy… Paul uses 1/8" thick lexan! The only way you could break the lenses in this thing is with a 15lbs sledge hammer! The lenses are dark, but suitable to be worn or for display. To me that always makes a perfect prop piece… durable enough to be worn on a pred suit, but also detailed and sexy enough to be proudly shown in a display case. And this my friends is exactly that.

And finally, the inside of each helmet is numbered, signed and named (yes, he gives nicknames to his helmets… don't ask).

I am completely impressed with Paul… once again he proves you can have an affordable prop piece that looks absolutely fantastic and won't get damaged by a mouse farting on it. Anyone that's had a mouse fart on their shoddy recast helmet knows what I am talking about. So congratulations Paul on another amazing release! Anyone looking to pick up one of these bad boys, please contact paul directly by clicking HERE!

OK enough rambling, I know you guys want sexy pics! Click the gallery icon below for all the goodies:

I also think it's safe to say we were WAY overdue for a video review amrite? So I put together a little bit of a blabbity blab video for you! Might want to keep an eye on the credits, perhaps someone snuck in a blooper or something in there… Check out the review in full HD by clicking HERE or click on the YouTube icon below. First review of 2010!

And with that, I bid you adieu and I hope you all have an awesome week. Please be sure to share your thoughts on this piece or my review by clicking to comment button below, and I look forward to seeing you guys on the next review! Please don't forget to check out my collection sale at http://www.predatorstuff.com/2009/11/26/950/ and contact me if you have any questions.

Good afternoon everyone, welcome to the official first new post of 2010! I've been updating the sale thread of my ongoing collection sale, but I think it's time to show off some new pieces, what do you think? I have quite a number of pieces up for sale that I never got a chance to photograph or review, so I thought I would get started with one of my favorites… Leonardo from TMNT!

This is a gorgeous 1:6 scale kit that was released in 2008 by Devil's Own Resin and was sculpted by CH Member Veritas and the kit is titled "Way of the Sword". It's a heavy kit cast out of solid resin and includes a solid resin sewer grate base and real metal swords! The gorgeous painted version seen in this review (and is available for sale) was done up by one of the greats, Mister Saul Alvarez and I was able to pick it up last year. I am a HUGE TMNT fan, so I was completely thrilled to grab this kit.

I admit I did watch the original cartoon series on TV when I was a kid and even managed to watch 1 or 2 movies, but for me, TMNT will always be the original comic book series of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird published back in 1984 by Mirage Studios. In fact, I bet I still have my first editions somewhere buried in a box. So when I saw this sculpt for the first time and saw that it was based off the comics rather than the cartoon series, I was already hooked and ready to rock. Then I saw Saul's build-up and I relentlessly pursued him until he finally gave it up. I had him keep Leo's cartoon blue rather than the comic book red to pay homage to the cartoon series I also enjoyed.

The kit itself is beautifully detailed, with a gorgeous sculpt FILLED with all kinds of textures and badass sculpting chops… I absolutely LOVE the shell and the twin scabbards.

And now for the bad news/good news scenario… as far as I know, this kit is no longer in production… it's been sold out for ages and I haven't heard of anyone getting a new one since last year. In fact, we were told that Mikey was on the way next, but so far he hasn't appeared. BUT the good news, the piece in this review is available for sale! This is just one f the many pieces I still have for sale in my collection divorce sale, which you can check out by clicking HERE! I am asking $599.99 for this guy, so please contact me if you are interested!

This is a MUST-HAVE for any TMNT fan, easily the best Leo I have ever seen in any format and there is just no touching the details and paint job from Saul. I took a few pics you can check out, click on the photo icon below to have a look and please be sure to click the comment button at the end of this article to share your thoughts!

I don't have a video review yet, but I will work on one and post it as soon as it's available! Thanks and welcome to 2010!

Dan

Hello everyone,

OK so some of you may have noticed that I haven't updated the site for a little bit… well unfortunately I am having some personal issues and at this point I must look at my priorities and make some hard decisions. One of these decisions is the complete sale of my personal collection, which of course is my pride and joy and VERY hard for me to let go. I am working on making the full list, along with links to photos and all that good stuff. So while I work on that, please see the list below. Over the coming days I will continue to add links to photos and more products etc. I ask that anyone who is interested in any of these items please contact me ASAP and I will get back to you right away.

All prices are posted, but please feel free to make an offer. Please note I am not trying to make any profit on this stuff, I just want to try and break even so please bear that in mind if you submit an offer. All prices are in USD and I accept PayPal or certified check or money order as long as you are willing to wait until they clear through my bank. Prices do not include shipping. I will not be able to set items aside, so please be ready to purchase the items in question in full if you want them, I just can't keep track of payment plans and stuff like that.

To all my dear friends in the collector community, thank you so much for all your support, you guys have been awesome. Also, I will continue to run Predatorstuff and do reviews and all that good stuff, so no worries. I simply won't be collecting any more.

So have a look and don't hesitate to ask me questions… this is my personal collection and it's very dear to my heart. You know that pretty much everything here is the best of the best and come from a caring collector.

Billiken Predator 1 Kit with Custom Base $599.99
Here is the kit that started it all! This is an original Predator 1 kit from Billiken and it was painted by Neal Pepper aka Vindicator and it was the kit that got me in to kit collecting! I was collecing McFarlane/NECA type stuff and I did have a couple of kits in my collection, but when I picked this up from Neal, I was totally blown away and that's why I dropped the toys and went to the world of Garage Kits! This is my oldest piece and still one of my best.

This is a custom made base by Joe Dunaway. He created this from two generic alien bases from Geometric Designs and then added additional burns and details and then gave the entire thing a kick as paint job! And as with all Joe Dunaway buildups, this piece is signed and dated on the bottom.

Another Halloween has passed us, and for Sideshow fans, that means we've recently recovered from the 10 days of Spooktacular festivities. We've returned to a life of regular meals, bathing, annoyed spouses, children, friends, and of course, something in the way of normal sleep hours. Yes folks, it's post Spooktacular recovery… we love to have our lives back, but hate that the fun is over.

For anyone living under a rock and don't read my blog very often, Spooktacular is Sideshow's annual Halloween and Horror online extravaganza of rotating discounts, spot giveaways, new product announcements, contests, and community interaction, plus much more! Basically it's a week and a half of Sideshow Collectibles partying with their customers and fans in a MASSIVE online event that runs 24 hours a day for 10 entire days. During those 10 days, they give away tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes, announce awesome new products and we all have a blast. The highlight of the event for me is the 10 day chat room they open up, where hundreds of fellow collectors and Sideshow enthusiasts can interact each other and compete for chat prizes via trivia contests and scavenger hunts. It's a time for no sleep, minimal food and very little social interaction outside of the computer. You eat, sleep and breath Sideshow, and hope that when it's over you're still alive and your wife hasn't filed divorce papers.

This year Sideshow easily gave out $50,000 in prizes, even though their news announcement stated 30k. The first thing I need to do is thank everyone at Sideshow for putting on such an amazing Spookfest, I had an absolute BLAST! So my thanks to the following Sideshow staff members that came to hang out in chat, give away prizes, or just kept us going through the long chat hours:

SideshowChris

SIdeshowDennis

SideshowMarc

SideshowAlex

SideshowCorie

I would also like to thank Mike Tolentino and Jennifer Bigham over at the Customer Support department that helped me with a few issues I was having and a half millions questions I was trying to get answered for my Predstuff coverage or on behalf of other Spooktacular attendees. And of course I want to thank the Mistress of the Web, that sexy Sideshow mamma who shows up on forums and chat randomly dishing out badass prizes!

And finally, I would like to thank Greg Anzalone, President and CEO of Sideshow Collectibles. He came out in to chat in front of a couple hundred Sideshow fanatics and allowed us to absolutely DROWN him in questions and he did his best to answer as much as he could. We was completely inundated, there were so many questions flying that at one time there was a half-hour difference between the question asked and his answer. But he eventually answered everything and then finished up by tossing out a couple thousand bucks in prizes! You can check out the entire transcript of the chat I put together by clicking HERE. I even sent a copy of it to Sideshow, which was later posted right on their site for other Sideshow visitors to check out. Got a nice thank you letter from Sideshow… you're welcome guys!

Chat was completely awesome this year, with TONS of prizes and lots of friends to laugh and hang out with. It was great to see some of my old friends from previous SDCC and Spooktacular chat events and of course myself and my friend Ozzy, Madcow and Happyboy teamed up and made sure we were alerting each other via text of new contests and basically trying to keep each other sane. We had a blast and hauled some great loot, so thanks again to my chat team and hope to see you guys at SDCC chat this summer! I would also like to give a shout out to all the other friends from chat who made this event so memorable:

Shropt

Ken

Kabu

SolidSnake

Swabie (This guy needed a TRUCK to haul his prizes home)

BuffyGirl

Avfin

Toast

CelticPredator (Remember… take your meds BEFORE chat please!)

Anyone else I may have forgotten… thank you so much!

And of course a shoutout to my pal Pitu, who was absolutely hilarious in chat and hooked me up with a sweet Pituvision T-Shirt, which I now have and appears to be designed for extremely short, overweight people, but I'm wearing it anyhow!

So thank you to all you guys and gals and hope to see you next Chat event! If you haven't seen my wrap up video yet (which is mostly a shout out and thank you to all my Spooktacular chat friends, check that out by clicking the pic below).

In terms of contests, we had website and chat trivia, we had random draws, we had scavenger hunts, we had the Mistress of the Web giving out random goodies and I'm sure there were other ways to win that I am forgetting as I try to recall the whirlwind of an event. Unfortunately the main scavenger hunt seemed a bit compromised as many folks had all the words way in advance of the last day, but someone hauled away a gorgeous Red Skull PF statue and I know it wasn't me lol! BUT I did have a pretty awesome haul this year, check this out:

Mystery gift from the mistress!

So there was definitely some haulage to be had, you just had to be patient and keep an eye on the main Spooktacular news page for new contests and promo words. Thanks for all the awesome prizes Sideshow!

In terms of new product announcements, there was nothing really earth-shattering in the world of Predators and Aliens… all we saw was a set of VCDs, which you can check out by clicking here. As a Star Wars fan though, I still got to see something pretty damn awesome, and that's the Gamorrean Life-Size Bust.

Can we all say Holy ^&*%& that's awesome?! I know I can! This is easily my favorite piece in the entire Spooktacular line-up this year… I mean, who doesn't love a huge drooling pig guard head in their collection? I know I want one! You can read more about Mr. Gamor by clicking over here.

The other fun part of Spooktacular was the Help Wanted video series, a mini movie put together by Sideshow productions starring the Sideshow Collectibles staff, including the oh-so-delish Allison (call me *winks*) and our favorite man with no pants, Scott. This was hilarious… Pitu zombie was hysterical (you killed EGAD you bastard!) but seriously, wtf was with the Criswell thing? As I mentioned in my video, was my Sideshow Spooktacular readiness kit missing a few hits of Acid or something because I'm pretty sure the Criswell scenes were meant for tripping. I didn't understand a damn thing the freaky ass floating head had to say lol! But it was great fun guys, nicely done. MMmmm Allison… *starts dreaming*

*Spaces out* Right, where were we…

This was easily the best Spooktacular I've ever experienced and there was definitely more prizes to be had than ever before, it was CRAZY! My only suggestions would be to tighten up security around contests to make the playing field a bit more level for less saavy folks, and I would suggest ending it a bit earlier on Halloween instead of ending it at 6PM PST, especially on a Saturday! Many of us in chat were parents and had to take out little ones out trick-or-treating and were forced to miss the big prizes and the final huge giveaways, which sucks. I think ending it at 6PM EST would make more sense and give everyone a chance at taking part in the final.

AND MORE PREDATOR ITEMS PLEASE!!!

Thanks again Sideshow, you put on one hell of a show! Now back to reviewing and photo taking until the next huge event, which is Comic Con this Summer. Take care all and I will post a new update once all my prizes arrive so you can see what it all looks like piled on my desk.

Later fellow Spookaholics!
Dan
