It’s been a loooong and tiring 5 days of San Diego Comic Con goodness and I loved every minute of… the scary part is that I wasn’t even there! Thanks to many friends attending and the AWESOME SDCC coverage from Sideshow, I had the next best thing to being there… and here’s some Predator goodies that caught my eye!
This year was actually a little disappointing for Predator fans, there was only minimal new announcements for Predators and nothing really on a grand scale. Personally I was hoping to a new Predator 2 Maquette from Sideshow to go with the Predator 1 Maquette, but no dice.
But before we begin, I have to say a HUGE thanks to Sideshow who has pretty much the biggest and coolest booth at the show… they had live cams to I could watch the action and had a 24 hour chat going all week so I could hook up with fellow Sideshow nuts. Not only that but I hauled a TON of cool prizes from the trivia contests (I think other people in chat were getting peeved lol!) but we all had a blast and I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. Huge thanks to Sideshow Corie, Sideshow Marc and Sideshow Amy for hosting the chat and helping us feel like part of the SDCC!
Now for the products… first off, my absolute FAVORITE piece at the con is this AMAZING full-size General Grievous bust, it is off the hook!
This is a gorgeous piece that apparently a few people knew was on the way but I had no idea. You can check out all the pics and pre-order this if you want here by clicking HERE!
In terms of Predators, there’s not a whole lot to announce, although a few cool pieces to get the juices going until the Cinemaquette Predator starts shipping! First off, we have the new Sideshow Predator 2 Diorama piece.
This is the latest piece in their Diorama series for Predators and Aliens, and you can see more photos of this piece and pre-order it by clicking here! This link is for the exclusive edition, which comes with both a masked and unmasked head… you might want to grab this quick if you want it, it will sell out quite fast.
Next up is a couple of cool new Hot Toys figures in their 14″ poseable line. First up is the cool Predator 2 Lost Hunter, which is based on the ‘borg’ Predator as seen in the group of Lost Hunters at the end of Predator 2.
This is a very cool piece and I hope they continue to do the rest of the Lost Hunters, would be an amazing diorama with all these guys! More photos and order information by clicking here, and again this will sell out quick like all the other HT releases.
Another VERY exciting piece from Hot Toys is their AvP Machiko figure, which is based off the Machiko AvP comic book character.
This is a very unique figure in the series and looks absolutely awesome! You can see more pictures and pre-order information by clicking here!
NECA was also on hand and revealed their new mid-cloaking AvPR Wolf Predator figure. This is the latest in their AVPR figures, which has been quite cool. You can read all about this figure on the NECA site and you’ll be able to buy these at many local and online toy stores.
And of course Cinemaquette was there to dangle their amazing Predator 1 piece coming out some day to us! If you have not seen this insanely cool piece, check it out on their main site by clicking here. I’ve been waiting for 4 years for this piece, but it’s still not up for pre-order on their site and no word on when this ships. Oh well, more time to save for the $2000 price tag!
For those of you looking for photos of the SDCC and all the vendors and events, you should check out this HUGE gallery hosted by Figures.com. They have tons of staff that cover the event and send in hundreds of photos and really covers just about everything at the show.
And finally, check out the Sideshow SDCC Coverage page by clicking here for photos, AWESOME videos and all kinds of other cool stuff from the show. I love Sideshow for the effort they put in to this event, they truly go the extra mile for the fans on this one!
Stay tuned for some pics of The Hunters Lair crew decked out in full Predator costumes crashing the SDCC! Our guys had a blast and I can’t wait to see the videos they promised to show off.
Next year I’ll be at SDCC in person!
Enjoy,
Dan

Guys, it is with great sadness to announce that Stan Winston, the man that has inspired and entertained so many of us, died of Cancer yesterday, June 15th. You can read about it here http://www.aintitcool.com/node/37106 and on Steve Wang’s MySpace page.

At first I thought this was a hoax but it does seem to be real and I expect more information will hit the internet over the coming hours. Please pause for a moment of silence for Stan and his family and friends. God bless you Stan and thanks for all the memories and bringing our imaginations and dreams (and nightmares) to life. Rest in peace.

Hey all! Just a heads up that I am on vacation and will be gone until June 12th, so there will be no shipping from the shop until around the 14th. You can order and such, but I won’t be able to ship and I will also not have much time to answer emails.
See you guys and gals later!!

After a ton of requests from those of you that don’t have the time or know-how to paint kits, I have been working to bring you a variety of pre-painted kits, including some of our more recent and popular kits. I’ve posted a ton in our shop and a couple have already sold, but I wanted to go ahead and post an official heads up for those of you that don’t always check the shop for updates (although you should, new items are added weekly!).

I will be looking to stock new and rare kits in all kinds of price ranges for you guys… I know everyone has different tastes and budgets, so I’ll try to keep a good variety going. Now before I show you want is in-stock, I wanted to let you know that I DID have a Pre-Painted Wolf but it sold within hours of posting it. I am getting more in soon, but the paint job will be a bit different and I don’t have pics of it yet, so I won’t post it in the list of items. You can certainly preorder it anyhow if you want by clicking here in our shop, but I won’t have a photo of how it looks for another week or two and stock should be here in about 4 weeks.
So here’s what I do have in stock at this time:

This is our best-selling AVPR Predalien, and I now have 3 of these available in pre-painted format. You will have to attach a few parts together (It’s sold in parts to avoid damage during shipping) but it’s a snap to put together and it’s ready for display! You can buy one of these pre-painted editions by clicking here in our shop or if you want the raw unpainted version, you can get that here.

Next up is the Predator from the older Billiken AvP kit. This is a gorgeous vinyl kit professionally built and painted by Joe Dunaway and has been in my collection for a couple of years. The alien was destroyed at some point so only the Predator was completed. This is the only one I have available and the price is VERY cheap for a Joe Dunaway piece. You can get this kit by clicking here in our shop, and please remember this is the only one I have available.

Here we have an AWESOME pre-painted version of the AvP Celtic on Gauntlet Exclusive up for grabs. I only have 1 in stock but I can get more with the same paint application. Again this is ready to display right out of the box and this is an AWESOME kit that I guarantee you will love. The armor weathering on this piece is phenomenal. You can grab this one in our shop by clicking here. If you would prefer to buy a raw version of this kit that you can build and paint yourself, you can grab that here.

This next piece is a MASSIVE and absolutely spectacular Grey Zon Alien Queen Skull that has been built up and painted by Joe Dunaway. I purchased this original kit a little while ago from a US vendor and had Joe built it up for me and it’s 100% bad-ass! I believe this is 1:4 scale (it’s huge) and the entire jaw section opens and closes and features clear resin teeth. This is a very rare kit and I won’t be getting any more of these… in fact this is the only one I have seen for sale in years. If you would like to purchase this piece, you can get it by clicking here in our shop.

One of my very first painted kits is a gorgeous Halcyon 1:12 scale Alien Queen, built and painted by my good friend Chris Ausbrooks. This is a kick-ass piece and Chris has applied a beautiful paint job to her with multiple washes that give a multi-tone effect under the lights. I also have a special gift for anyone that buys this kit that is worth about $150 that you will LOVE if you’re an alien fan. You can buy this in our shop by clicking here, and again, this is the only one I have available.

And finally, this is the EXTREMELY rare Medicom Toy Alien vs Predator set that was released as a Japanese Exclusive for Toys R Us in 1997. It was sold in japan only and retailed for $159.99 and is considered one of those most rare vinyl Predator figures around. This is a set I’ve had for ages and I no longer have the box, but I’m offering this at a GREAT deal in our shop, so click here to check it out!
That’s about it for Pre-paints guys… I’ve been adding a ton of items to the shop, including some extremely rare collector pieces that you’ve probably never seen before, so always make sure you check the shop on a weekly basis for new items and stay tuned next week for tons of new reviews and announcements I have coming. It’s been a CRAZY last couple of weeks for me personally so it looks like I have some catching up to do!
Thanks again everyone and enjoy!

Hey all… In addition to the post I made HERE about the kit and model building equipment I am selling, I just recorded a couple of videos to try and show most of what I am including in this lot. Please bear in mind that everything being sold has been used max 10 - 12 times and was all bought last summer/fall. You have two options for video:
For a regular AVI download (Plays in Windows Media) download this file:
http://www.predatorstuff.com/junk/lot.zip (81 MB)
If you have the DIVX codec installed (You can download this DIVX codec free at www.divx.com) I have some DIVX versions that are much smaller at:
http://www.predatorstuff.com/junk/lot_divx.zip (25 MB)
So just download one of the zip files and you will find 2 videos in the zip. I had to break it in to 2 videos as my camera only records 3 minutes at a time.
You can also check these out on YouTube!
Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAq31YH3EIQ
Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81dimxdCv0A
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey all,
I am selling off a HUGE lot of equipment that would basically give someone everything they could possibly need to start building kits like a pro. I am selling an Iawata HPC Airbrush, a Max30 Silent Air Compressor, dozens and dozens of Fleshtone Freestyle, Golden, and Createx AB paints, a ton of Golden Fluid paints (metallics, opaques, translucent etc…), Full bottles of Liquitex stain sheen, gloss and high gloss sealant, brushes, cans of dullcote, palettes and ceramic mixing bowls, sample packs of Aves, sculpting tools, Xacto knife set, needle file set and lots of other little accessories like stainless steel mini bowls and plastic cups with lids, glass jars for storing mixed paint and more… I also have quick connect fittings on all the compressor lines and all the equipment and paints are less than a year old and has only been used maybe a dozen times. I spent about $2500 on all this gear and I am asking $1500, which includes shipping within the US and Canada.
If you are seriously interested in this offer (Do not contact me just for the sake of seeing what’s included and no, I won’t break this up in to smaller lots), contact me via the contact page and I can provide you with a video of everything I am including in the sale.
I am selling it because I just don’t have time to paint and I need to be a realist and admit that I won’t be able to commit to building anything for a long time. Maybe way later down the road when I have some spare time I might revisit building my own kits again, but for now I might as well get this to someone who wants it. Everything works in perfect order and I take very good care of my equipment. I would also be willing to help the buyer learn how to use the tools and equipment and you will also be getting a stack of KBM magazines to help get you started. Predatorstuff.com and my other business ventures just keep me WAY too busy and it’s going to get even worse this summer with the new projects I have coming.
That’s it guys, post any questions or contact me Oh and payment will be via Paypal.
Thanks!
Dan

A couple of weeks ago I received an email from one mister Robert Fordham, who took the time to drop me a note about how much he loved the site and that he wanted to send me some artwork that he had made. Now, I’ll admit up front and center that I was prepared for something a 12 year old drew up or something, which is still cool (I’ll NEVER not appreciate anything ppl want to share with me, especially their own artwork), but I was most definitely not prepared for what arrived in the mail 12 days later.
The ol’ mailbox had a large brown envelope crammed in there with Rob’s work and I had actually completely forgotten about him sending it to me. I checked the return address on the envelope and mumbled “what the hell is this now?” under my breath. It didn’t really look like a bill of any kind, so that’s always a plus. I could feel the cardboard inside so I knew it was something I shouldn’t fold (Ok the big DO NOT CRUSH OR FOLD written across the top also tipped me off), so I carefully opened the top with my trusty letter opener (large steak knife that was sitting on the drying rack in the kitchen) and pulled out a bagged piece of cardboard with some white papers against it. I open up the bag and pull out the papers and flip them over and my jaw literally hit the floor. The first thing I saw was the image shown above this paragraph, and you seriously have to see this in person to appreciate the detail of the ink, it’s insane.
This is an original inking he made on a very thick artpaper stock and he’s signed and dated it and left a nice note on the back for me. Wow, this is AWESOME! Then I look at the other papers, which are photocopies of… get this… BALLPOINT PEN “doodles” he’s made on regular paper. In fact, one of them has his Home Depot shopping list on it! Check these out:

Now, I went to design school and a specialized highschool for a 4 year intensive visual arts program, so I know quality, and Robert’s skills are insane and quite frankly, he should be joining Farzad at ADI doing creature concept designs. I quickly contacted Rob to basically shower him in compliments and gratitude for this awesome gift AND I wanted to see what we could do about getting some original work for Predatorstuff clients. Well, he’s agreed, so for a limited time, we will be selling ORIGINAL Predator artwork by Robert Fordham in the shop! These will be fully framed and ready to display in your studio/room/office and we guarantee you will freak when you see these in person just like I did. So stay tuned for when we announce these items in our shop (Please remember these are original signed pieces you will be buying, NOT prints or copies) and you’ll be able to grab one of these beauties for yourself.
Thanks for looking and please leave your comments below by clicking the comment button. I know Rob would LOVE to hear your feedback, so don’t be shy

John, you are the winner of our autographed copy of ADI’s Inside the Monster Shop book!

So John is getting an email from me and we’ll get him his book, but I would like to thank everyone that took the time to submit a photo and enter the contest and I hope you enjoyed the contest. No worries, we’ll have more goodies in the future to give away.
In the meantime, please check out the contest gallery to see all the photos you guys entered (a couple of pics are missing because some embedded their photos in the email instead of attaching them and I’m too sick, tired and grumpy to convert them to JPG images).
Congrats John and I hope you like the book!
