Hello everyone, welcome to a new review brought to you by the letters P and A and the number 3775! Today we get to check out a VERY surprising piece of prop replica goodness all the way from Germany… and like the Shamwow, we all know the Germans make awesome crap amirite? Read on and learn all about the gorgeous Predator bio helmet manufactured by Oxygen-Labs and see how the bar has been officially raised by helmet producers.

First things first, who is Oxygen-Labs? Oxygen-Labs is a German company formed by some very talented folks that dip in to all things awesome… 3D designs, graphic design, concepting and interior modeling, web design and of course, who can resist sculpting! You can imagine my intrigue when they shipped us a huge box containing the first piece of what will eventually a full costume design… I was absolutely blown away by what came next.
I open the box and inside is a professionally designed, glossy paper printed and plastic protected instruction sheet with details on how to change out the lenses, batteries and how to use the activation cable. Under that is a carefully packed, plastic protected KILLER bio helmet with a definite Narin design flare to it and finished in a GORGEOUS copper and aged metal finish, and these sweet red lenses that look amazing. I remove that from the box and find another small bag… in there you ask? Get this… TOOLS! Yep, the bio even includes the screw driver to remove the battery door and the hex screw driver to remove the chrome hex bolts that hold down the perfectly molded lenses. Yes… you read that right. The lenses aren’t cudely glued in, they’re not ripped out of sunglasses, and they’re not taped. The lenses were molded and cast specifically for this helmet and are held in place with honest-to-god chrome hex bolts! Mind has been blown…

This gets even better… the wiring is extremely professional, clean and secured properly with a sturdy battery pack and on/off switch, probably the best I have seen in these kinds of helmets. And there’s more! See that silver round thing in the middle of the photo above? That’s one of two earth magnets built in to the helmet, allowing anyone to attach this bio to their favorite Predator Mask with magnets installed within the mask (takes a few minutes to install). No straps, no velcro, no screwing around. Need more proof this is specifically designed for serious costume fans? The helmet even comes with a cable that plugs in to the side of the bio like an air hose that has a long wire that can run down your arm with a pressure trigger you wrap around your finger to activate the laser shroud.
The packaging is so professional, even the plastic protective bag the helmet ships in has a small parts warning label on it! It’s a shame I never got a chance to review this on Predatorstuff.com because it truly raises the bar on product packaging and finishing. Here’s your chance to own one of these beautiful bio helmets…

Let’s check out some details on this piece shall we? It’s cast in a lightweight but thick fiberglass resin with a great finish to a beautiful sculpt. The paint is gorgeous… it’s finished in a weathered titanium silver and then accented with aged copper for a very realistic overall effect. The lense is acrylic red as a stamdard size but Oxygen-Labs promises to make other colors available and it’s held in place with 3 hex bolts. 2 magnets are glued in to the bio for mounting and the shroud is wired up with a 3 point laser and includes a full length cable ending in a pressure SMD switch for activation. The system is powered by 3 AAA batteries and the battery box includes an LED that lights up when the batteries need replacement. The overall dimensions are 48.5cm x 36cm x 19cm and weighs in at 1.2KG (about 2.7 lbs).
This is apparently the first of many more parts coming from Oxygen-Labs as they plan to release additional parts and skins to build a complete Predator suit… the next item coming out is the mask (date TBD). If you would like more information on this piece of what to buy one, check out the Oxygen-Labs website by clicking HERE!

Holy crap kids, take a look at this. From my good friend Wataru at Psycho Monsterz in Japan, a 1:1 xenomorph skull trophy.

And this thing is huge – 31.5 inches long (80cm) yet it only weighs in at an astonishing 4 pounds (1.8 kg). Wataru has used a very clever and unique strategy employing a hollow resin structure filled with a light weight hard foam. The result is a whole lot of strength with very little weight. You can mount this to your wall without fear of pulling it downl.

This is a limited run as each skull is handmade, assembled and painted. It is not available as a kit yet but maybe if enough folks ask, he will rethink that. Wataru is making a few of these available to followers of this site at an especially attractive price. If you want more information, contact me.

Several months ago, I mentioned that Hot Toys had shown a prototype of the Samurai Predator at the Hong Kong toy show. It was an instant success with all sorts of (bad) photos showing up on every Predator-related web site. Well my friends, while we were all sitting around eating turkey (at least here is the US), Sideshow and Hot Toys launched this bad boy and it is awesome! Take a look-

Shipping in the spring of 2012, this figure is 14″ tall and comes with a boat-load of features including newly sculpted head with both open and closed mandibles, moveable jaw, interchangeable hands, four (4) swords attached to the back, helmet and samurai mouth mask and so much more. All of this mounted on a diorama base featuring a defeated Alien body and a broken sword piece.

This is the first entry in Hot Toys’ Artist Collection. It is a unique collaboration between two Japanese sculpting legends, Takayuki Takeya and Yuji Oniki. Don’t miss out on this one, it is already a classic, so go get it!

Those of you who have been reading my posts here and in the newsletters know that I am a huge fan of Narin, the amazing Thai artist and sculptor. So, I will save all the platitudes and tell you that he is planning to recast several of his most popular kits. And here is the very cool part, they will only be available through this web site so you loyal readers will get first dibs on some of the gems you may have missed.
One of his most popular kits was the Narin Classic Predator. It was one of the first kits he produced when he went out on his own and it sold out almost immediately.

This is the original Predator with a non-removable bio helmet. Classic position with the armature knives fully extended it is truly the classic predator and should be the cornerstone of your collection – it is of mine.
Next up is the Death Warrior. This is one of my all time favorite kits and I have lusted after it for years since I missed it on the first go-around. But, good news for all of us is that it is back but in a very limited (read that as 10 kits) run. Once he got beyond the 10th kit, the quality of the pour started to suffer, so the run was ended at 10. I’m not going to miss this one and neither should you. Dan Richard does a very nice review of this kit on YouTube, so check it out.

This is a stunning kit with a hunter standing over a pile of ‘deceased aliens’. The attention to detail is amazing and every aspect of the kit is crisp and top of the line.
I’m embarrassed to admit that the last two kits never made it on to my radar. They are variants on the hunter with the emphasis placed on the weapons. The Axertor and the Spearaizer (I’ll let you figure out which one is which) are both classic Narin. At the risk of being criticized for using the word “detail” too many times, the detail on both is amazing.

The Axertor is an all resin kit on a 1:10 scales and is made up of 22 parts. The kit is 8.5 inches tall (21cm)

The Spearaizer is 1:16 scale, comes in 8 parts and is 7.5 inches (18 cm) tall.
If you have any interest in any or all of these kits please contact me as soon as possible. Letting me know you want one is not a commitment on your part, you can always change your mind. Think of this as a pre-pre-order. But once again folks, don’t waste time. I’m still getting requests for the Hellboy and Alternative Hunter kits which sold out almost immediately—that is a hint not to send me any more emails about those kits, they are gone.
One additional note. Those of you who are particularly observant will notice that the picture of the Axertor and the Spearaizer are different than the ones on the site earlier. That’s because the first ones were wrong, my bad. I apologize for any misunderstanding or confusion.

Ever since I started collecting statues and building/painting models I have been in awe of Randy Bowen and Narin. Both artists have shown an amazing talent and ability to interpret complex characters, develop new characters from existing ones and just design/sculpt incredible figures from scratch. One of the highlights in my experience since assuming responsibility for Predator Stuff has been establishing a relationship (well via email but still a relationship) with Narin. I have to admit that the first email I sent him was full of gushing praise and sounded a bit like a tween girl writing to Justin Bieber. But once we got past all that I have thoroughly enjoyed discussing collections, statues and models. So, I figured that it was time to lean on him a bit and ask him to crank out a few of his pieces that, well quite frankly, I missed out on. Being the gentleman he is, he agreed! So it is with great pleasure that I announce the return of:
The Narin 1:4 Scale Hellboy
This was the first in a planned series of large scale kits to be produced by Narin and this bad boy is big. He stands 21″ in height and weighs in at over 5 pounds AND HE’S BACK!! This phenomenal kit comes in 25 pieces and includes two sets of horns, the full large set and the ground down ‘stubs’ you see in the movies. For a full review of this model, scroll on down in this column and take a gander at Dans review from March of this year. Keep in mind that the review model was extensively customized and shows what can be done with this amazing kit. Here are some photos of the actual kit:

Nice shots of the fully horned Hellboy on left and the ‘stubs’ horns on right

The true measure of a figure artist is their ability to sculpt anatomically correct musculature without looking cartoonish. Narin is the master!
This is going to be a very short run – the original production run was only 33 and it sold out almost immediately. If you are interested in getting your hands on one of these masterpieces, please contact me ASAP.
Product Size: 21″ H (533mm)
Product Weight: 5.00 lbs (2.26 kg)
You can see other pictures in our gallery
The Narin Alternative Hunter
Also available on a very limited basis is the Alternative Hunter. This is a truly delicious kit with some of the most outstanding (even for Narin) details ever sculpted. This is a 1:6 scale kit depicting a fully armored young wolf. Check out the helmet attached to the shoulder and the cannon poised for attack.

This is a truly amazing piece and should hold a place of honor in your collection. Don’t have the time or inclination to build the Hunter or paint him? Don’t worry, we have a whole group of talented folks that we can refer you to who will do a most excellent job. For more info on paint and build-up or if you are interested in ordering this true classic, contact me.
Product Size: 15″ H (381mm)
Product Weight: 3.00 lbs (1.4 kg)
You can see other pictures in our gallery
I know that these two re-issues are going to be huge and will (I hope) serve to convince Narin to come up with some more of his long sold out kits. Now if I could just convince him to crank out another classic predator for me…..

Happy Friday everyone, welcome to a new review of a pretty damn kick ass kit that was released back in July of last year… have a gander at the awesome 1:4 scale Hellboy kit from our beloved Narin!

First off, I have to once again thank my kick ass friend Si Blair for hooking me up with this build-up that he comissioned from the always amazing Joe Dunaway. Si has been extremely generous is allowing me to review his buildups before he even gets his hands on them so thanks so much for sharing your collectibles with me and the rest of the Predatorstuff fans! So without further polishing of the derriere, lets have at it.
OVERVIEW
This kit is the first in a line of large 1:4 scale pieces that are being sculpted and produced by Narin, and Hellboy here is a stunner at just over 21 inches in height and weighing well over 5 lbs. The kit comes with 25 pieces, including 2 sets of horns (the ground down version as well as full on demon horns of demony goodness!) and two sets of left hands (his left, not yours) – one with a static open hand pose and the other holding the kind of gun that would likely have any beast he faces decorating the interior of his monster pants feces brown. Btw feces brown is really a color… it’s that color used for those yellow/brown cubicle office walls from the 90s. He then includes 4 belt pockets, a ceremonial dagger, cross, horseshoe, holstered gun and a couple of rather phallic looking grenades or some kind of other devices. The main body is parted at the waist and below the knees with the joints well hidden with the belt and boot tops.

SCULPT AND CASTING
My first thgought when taking this out of the box… “Holy crap this thing is HUGE!” I am so happy that Narin is doing a 1:4 scale line, I love this scale so I am really excited about this series and his first offering of Hellboy is a great choice. The kit is beautifully sculpted with extreme detail in every piece of the kit… even his gloves are topped with tiny grooves and details that are just mind blowing. You can’t help but notice that the overall piece is a blend of Movie style Hellboy and comic book style. He’s got a leaner look to him but still stacked and ready to kick ass and the look really works for the piece. Even the boots are beautifully sculpted with tons of details and this cool tread pattern on the soles. So once again Narin does an amazing job on the sculpt and every millimeter is just killer. The casting is equally kickass with the usual high quality resin that Narin uses that requires barely any clean up. The only actual putty work you’ll need to do is when you connect his arma to the shoulders… you’ll need to pin and glue those in place and putty the joint lines. Other than that, he’s ready to paint right out of the box!
PAINT-UP
Looks like Joe had a field day with his box of odds-and-ends because he’s added a ton of chains, crosses, bones and other little doo-dads all over his belt, including some kind of crayfish claw and even something nasty in some yellow liquid in a glass vile hanging from his belt… and it looks sooooo friggin cool. The combination of Narin’s skill as a sculptor and Joe’s mind-blowing painting skills never fails to impress me. Hellboy’s eyes are super detailed and beautifully painted, the skin tones are awesome and the subtle shading between the muscles is perfect. Then you look at the weapons and clothing and you just marvel at how much detail Joe works in to each piece. The weathering and metal work is so realistic and the little paint chips and nicks in the metal have you wondering just how the hell he does it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This is a no brainer for Hellboy fans and kit builders, the kit is killer and looks absolutely awesome when all built up and put together and is seriously going to stand out in your Hellboy collection. I should ALSO mention that this is a limited edition kit at only 30 castings and there are a few left, retail is $300 plus shipping per kit, painting not included. By the way for those of you that can’t build your own kits, we do have a list of professional kit builders here on the site you can use to contact pros that we love and get some build-up quotes. You can check that list out by clicking HERE! Should you need more information about this kit or how to pick one up, feel free to contact me at any time.
So another big congratulations to Narin on a kickass release and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the 1:4 scale line!
OK how about some eye candy folks? First up, please click the photo icon below to check out all the pics of this beautiful piece… I took a ton of photo closeups to give you an idea of how cool the details are, hope you enjoy them!

And of course we can’t have us a review without some video goodness right? My daughter and I decided to put a little something together while we waited for the Habs hockey game to get started so we strapped on our game jerseys and let the camera role! Check it out by clicking here or click the icon below:
