Dancing with the Stars – Predator 2 Style!

February 25th, 2010

Question for you guys… what do you get when you combine all the Lost Hunters from Predator 2 with slick dance moves, a ghetto blaster, and the ever sweating Danny Glover?  Well, I guess you would get the following video that my buddy Anthony Mestas just gave me a heads up on lol!

Yes folks, that would be all the original P2 Lost Hunters from the Predator 2 movie doing a dance off, and yes that really is Danny Glover partying in the middle towards the end of the clip.  The video, which was uploaded to YouTube by 'tonsoftreats' includes the following information on the clip:

Lionel Douglass -AKA- Big "D" is a member of the original Don Campbellock dance group the "Lockers" He is also the creator of this dance act and one of the Predators of this number. Lionel Douglass -AKA- Big "D" will be the last one dancing doing the "Alpha". Granny Nancy feeds the Predators so check her out at Granny Nancys Kitchen. www.grannynancyskitchen.com More on Lionel Douglass…..go to imdb or www.lioneldouglass.com or google Lionel Douglass (Big Bird) Yes that is Danny Glover in the video.

Too cool, thanks Anthony for the vid…  First time I see this too, hope you guys enjoyed it.

Peace!
Dan

Predator is Alive and Well in Brazil… Check Out this Elder Mask!

October 25th, 2009

Hey all!  OK so I deviated from my gameplan a bit and actually went to Ottawa lastnight for a lastminute birthday party for an old friend of mine that I have not seen in years and will be deployed to Afghanistan next May.  I had a blast and crawled in to the house at around 7AM this morning, slept for a few hours and then it was back to Spooktacular coverage.  So while I catch up, I wanted to share with you a bad ass P2 Elder Mask built by a fan in San Paulo, Brazil!

Roberto Artur worked on this piece for 2 months, using photos and footage he found on Predatorstuff.com for reference as well as the Predator 2 movie itself.  He sent me this earlier in the year and I wanted to show you guys his awesome work.  You can find more pics of his mask as well as other projects on his flickr page by clicking HERE!

Be sure to leave some feedback on this by clicking the comment button below, I'm sure Roberto would love to hear your thoughts!

Enjoy,
Dan

Introducing a New Fan-Made Predator Helmet – The Queen Hunter Bio by Laurent Lefevre!

March 23rd, 2009

Back in January, I was contacted by a loyal Predatorstuff.com reader who wanted to know if I would like to see a new project he had finally finished… Léo (aka Laurent Lefevre) was very excited to show off his latest sculpt, the Queen Hunter bio helmet inspired by one of his favorite movies, Aliens.

Queen Hunter

Here we are a couple of months later, and I am finally posting this wonderful piece, I am apologize to Léo for the delay. I actually have a TON of WONDERFUL fan-made items I will be sharing with you guys over the coming weeks and I welcome anyone to email me via the contact page to let me know you have goodies to share! I love seeing your work and reviews guys, so drop me a note and let’s see what you got!

As for Mr. Lefevre, I absolutely LOVE his Queen Hunter sculpt, which he sculpted from scratch and is a full size scale piece. He explains that he was inspired by the film Aliens, and wanted to create something he imagined a Predator that specializes in taking down Alien Queens would wear for the hunt. I love the weathering effects and the glyphs he has in the sculpt… overall it looks just badass! Léo lives in France but communicates no problem in English and mentioned that if anyone would like a painted copy like his, you can contact him directly by clicking here and he’d be happy to work something out. Personally I’m hoping to get a copy in my studio for a full review, we’ll see if I can pester him in to submission!

Queen Hunter

He also sent me several photos of the bio from various angles, which you can check out by clicking the photo icon below:

So a big thank you to Laurent for sharing this with me and I invite anyone out there to send in their projects or reviews and I am happy to post them on the site! Be sure to post your thoughts on this piece by clicking the comment button below!

Take care and happy Monday!
Dan

PredatorStuff.com Introduces the Artwork of Dan Woollard!

February 16th, 2009

Hello everyone! As most of you know (or at least SHOULD know), I invite anyone to send me photos of their Predator creations, including sculptures, customs, replicas and of course your artwork. Some of you brave souls have recently taken me up on this offer, so I am going to start catching up on these submissions and show off the awesome work you folks are sending in, and today I want to start with the VERY talented Dan Woollard!

Dan sent me a bunch of photos of his artwork and I absolutely LOVE his style, and judging by what’s in his sketchbook, he’s just a tad in to Predators! Dan’s work is fantastic and he does a great job of sketching from scratch or when using reference material. One of the drawings he sent me is a perfect sketch of a McFarlane figure, you recognize it instantly! He also sent in a very cool sketch of the Wolf bio from AVPR, looks WICKED!

Thanks so much Dan for taking the time to send these in to me and letting me share them on the site! If anyone wants to contact Dan Woollard for comission work or just to say hi, you can contact him by clicking HERE and you can check out more of his work in our gallery by clicking the photo icon below:

Feel free to leave Dan some comments on his work, I’m sure he’ll be on here checking out your feedback!

Thanks and enjoy,
Dan

SNAKE Index 2008 Released – Spike Narin Kit Encyclopedia v2

December 29th, 2008

Happy Holidays Everyone! Hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all the very best in the coming year and that we get another year filled with Predator goodies! I am finally back today after almost a week away from the computer jumping around from city to city and family to family trying to pack on as much poundage as possible, but all the fun has come to and end and it’s time to face the HUGE pile of emails I have in my inbox. Please be patient while I try to catch up, and shipments will also start going out tomorrow as I resume packing tonight.

Along with my re-appearance, my dear friend Ian decided to surprise me by FINALLY send an update to his infamous SNAKE Guide, which stands for Spike NArin Kit Encyclopedia. This is the second edition that Ian has put together (Ian’s nickname is Spike by the way) and it includes all the new Predator kits Narin has released in 2007 and 2008.

The SNAKE Index is a numbered list of all the Predator kits Narin has released over the years, and provides a simple way of communicating the kit you are talking about… so instead of saying “Female Huntress 2 with the spear and weird base etc.”, you can just say Narin kit #34 and a quick check on the index shows which kit you are talking about. I actually use this guide all the time when making orders or talking about Narin kits with other fans, it’s just easier than trying to remember the names for all of them lol! Here is what Ian had to say about this updated version:

Well it’s been 22 months since my last attempt at building the ultimate Pred collage ….. and I’ve finally found some more electronic glue and paper.

Most everybody interested in reading this will already be familiar with the sculpts Narin has worked on since Feb 2007, since between Narin’s own site, Predatorstuff, and the HIVE/Clubhouse/Lair (etc) communities, these beauties have been publicised as they became available.

However, it never hurts to make things easy with a consolidated reference guide – so here we are. The ones added (yellow numbering) are as follows:

2007 (March-Dec only)
44 – Predator 2 (masked & unmasked options)
45 – Urban warrior (huge scale P2 with damaged mask – same size as Sideshow maquette)
46 – Deadly Duo Celtic
47 – Deadly Duo Chopper
48 – Lobster Pred bust (never kitted)

2008
49 – Death Warrior (Narin series 03) – the ultimate Pred kit
50 – Predalien
51 – Wolf
52 – Predator tile (limited distribution, painted by Narin)
53 – Rogue Hunter
54 – Bug Killer (masked & unmasked options)
55 – Dual-axe Pred
56 – Wolf bust (masked & unmasked options)
57 – Predalien bust

These last 2 years have seen us spoiled with yet further awesome creations from Narin, a man who’s prolific talent is unsurpassed by any in our community. I look forward to the coming months as he will doubtless take yet more money from me in return for his wonderful works of art.

I will remain ever hopeful that he continues to do so for a long LONG time. Narin – you STILL rule my friend.

Ian “Heavy Metal Spike” Campbell – Dec 28th 2008

Thanks so much for the update Ian! For those of you that would like to see the full size version of the SNAKE Index, please click HERE! You can also bookmark that image link, it’s handy to have at the ready… I actually have it right on my links bar in my browser.

Have a good one everybody, I have more updates coming soon, including a very cool AVPR Cannon replica Pete just sent me!

Collector’s Voice Feature – Warren Reviews the Cinemaquette Predator

December 8th, 2008

Hey all! Welcome to a new series I want to start doing, where YOU, the collectors and fans, can have your reviews featured as articles! We’ll call it “Collector’s Voice Features” and I invite anyone to send us reviews and photos of their favorite collectibles and we’ll see about posting it on the site for you! It can be anything really, not just Predators… as long as it’s something cool! And for our first official CV Feature, my buddy Warren sent in a little review of the Cinemaquette Predator that I thought I would share seeing as I still don’t have one of my own to show off yet!

Warren's CM Pred Review

The piece is very commanding, and yes the gross weight is nearly 90lbs. There is an outer shipper, an inner shipper and the very nicely produced main package complete with red foil logo imprint.

The figure’s legs pin into his ankles (feet are part of base) just below the shin armor. From there it is one piece all the way up – including head – minus forearms. They both mount via magnetic connections into squared key joints. The countdown feature on left engages when the cover panel is lifted. Only other adds are the plasma canon, pins into armor and four fabric straps for knees & elbows. Dreadlocks are a very rigid black rubber or vinyl, flat finish. Cables on left arm armor & breast plate are metal springs.

The body netting is very nice, custom produced HOWEVER it is missing from the left arm – which usually has netting on P1 configuration right? Steve has taken obvious license with the character’s head (bigger) and dreads (longer). But overall it’s a knockout. Again, with the base being a sweet plus … although the ferns I could do without.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to send in your review Warren and for the pics, very much appreciated! As you mentioned, the netting should be on the left arm, only the right arm is supposed to be bare.

Warren also submitted some VERY high resolution images that you can check out… the photos are large and very clear, so you can definitely see the detailing and textures of the statue. Check out his pics and the rest of the CM Pred photos I’ve collected by clicking on the photo icon below (the 4 photos named warrencm0x.jpg at the bottom of page 6 are Warren’s):

Thanks again Warren! If you guys want to send in your reviews, please use the contact form to get in touch with me.

Takre care,
Dan
