Hello everyone, hope all you guys and gals are doing well and didn’t miss me too much with the lack of updates on here… ok fine, you probably didn’t notice, but I was actually away all week on a little mini vacation with my daughter.  But have no fears, I’m back and have lots to talk about, including this exciting new project from the awesomely talented studio of Gabe Perna!

It’s hard to imagine anyone in the garage kit community that does not know who Gabe Perna is…  and even if you’re not sure who he is, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ve seen his work in kit magazines, GK websites and forums, or even model shows and exhibitions.  Gabe is especially known for the amazing original sculptures he’s created that are immensely popular among kit builders, and his careful attention to detail and top-of-the-line sculpting skills make him a household name for enthusiasts.  And with sculpture titles like "Smells like Children" and "Tastes like Human", you can bet he keeps monster fans like me VERY happy!  Needless to say, I was extremely excited when I heard Gabe was working on a Predator bust as a personal project and instantly went in to "bug the crap out of Gabe" mode until he was battered into submission and sent me some awesome work-in-progress photos and some additional details on the piece.

OK fine, maybe I didn’t really batter him… in fact, Gabe is a SUPER nice guy and despite being very busy, is always happy to talk shop when he can.  Here’s what he had to say about this piece… the bust is a  little bit bigger than 1:4 scale and will include removable mandibles so that the bio helmet (not shown in any of the photos yet) can be worn.  He will have a total of around 60 long dreads that will be clustered in 9 or 10 sections and will flow with the angle of his turned head.  He will have a section of 5 dreads in the back that are tired together with a cool looking skull decoration (you can see it on the base in the photo below).  2 dreads will also be hanging down in front of him with bladed tip decorations.  He will also include a large ceremonial knife and scabbard that attaches to his back AAAAANNND will have (this is awesome) a full backpack and plasma cannon with at least 2 articulation/pivot points.  If you’re not drooling yet, check your pulse as you might possibly be dead.

So far the WiP photos look AMAZING and I cannot wait to see additional photos of the helmet and backpack, this piece is going to be BADASS of the highest level.  No word on when this is completed but you can bet I will post more photos and news as they become available as I’m sure you guys will want to see the final end result of this piece.
