First Photos of the NECA AvP-R “Wolf” Predator Masked Edition Starting to Trickle In!

November 2nd, 2007

Looks like we’re finally starting to see pics of the new NECA AvP-R Masked Predator edition… for weeks we’ve only seen the unmasked, but today Predatorstuff.com fan David J. sent me a Forbidden Planet newsletter that had a pic of the masked version!

You can check it out live on Forbiddenplanet.com and they’ve got the figures up for pre-order!

Pretty cool, the masked version looks great, although I still think NECA sculpted the legs too skinny.

Thanks again David!

Yep, David sure does a better and faster job than the Wyman guy (me).

Gotta love the Masked Version, I hope I’ve enough money to buy both of the versions in February next year.

  2. Dwayne Says:

Nice Im still not shure how I feel about the look of the new predator but the figure looks like they did a good job.

  3. Dwayne Says:

Another comment I see that the relaease date isnt till march of 08. Dont they usually release figures and mechandise either before or right around the same time as the films release? Makes sense to release them at a time when they would be in higher demand with the hype of the film instead of 4 months later.

  4. Clyde Wyman Says:

I love the Masked Version of the Wolf Predator. But I have two problems, the first being that the cash grab idea is a very bad idea, I mean, they could have let you remove the mask and put it back as you wish but they choose to have a separate figures which is a problem for me because of lack of money (worst nightmare of every figure collectors and children alike), so I could only go for one figure instead. And since this is the case, I would choose this Masked Version as I think it looks great in a mask of course.

And second problem, I have to agree with Dwayne here. Why does NECA wants to drag the release date of the Predator figure (which I hope not) to February 2008? And why can’t they release prior to the film release? I mean it’s just not fair for Predator fans having to wait until next year while the Alien fans can get their own Alien goodies in December.

Ahh well, I hope NECA changes their mind about this.

  5. Rafael S. Says:

I do agree with Clyde. It doesnt seem fair to me that the Pred figures are coming until 2008. Arent those figures finish about now?

  6. Rafael S. Says:

    Desides that Wolfy looks great.

  7. Faken Says:

Well at $15 a figure, it’s not a HUGE deal… it’s not like Hot Toys with their $130 figures where some are merely helmet changes between versions like the NECA figures for a fraction of the price.

As for the delivery times, I’m sure it’s just a matter of the production schedule. Trust me, if they could get them out to stores sooner, they definitely would. But by the time you nail the licensing, get concepts and sculpts done and sign off on production, get it all done etc. the delays have piled up considerably. It takes months and months of work to get a figure done. I mean, just a small release of unpainted kits takes 3 or 4 months to go from concept to stock, imagine a release of thousands of painted licensed figures? Ouchies…

  8. T.J. Says:

Judging by how thin the pred looks, i’m guessing it’s a chick. Or an anerexic pred.

  9. T.J. Says:

I saw footage of the new movie and it showed the alien warrior from AVP and the alien warrior from Aliens. Are they both warriors, or is one a drone?

  10. Clyde Wyman Says:

I assume the fact that the production team wanted the Predator to be much more slimmer and athletic just like the Predators in the first and second movies.

  11. Roach Says:

    I love your site.
What stores or when & where does NECA distribute?
