Hot Toys BOMBS on Elder on Throne ‘Statue’ – Here’s a Video Review!

Hi Gang! Today I have something a bit different for you guys, I’m going to share a review with you in video format… and I’m doing this for 1 reason: This thing sucks so badly, that I am not even going to waste my time hauling out all my camera gear to take photos of it or type out a nicely composed review. It’s just not worth it.
My good friend the FedEx delivery dude brought me a nice big box from Sideshow, and in it contained two highly anticipated items… the Hot Toys Predator on Throne Statue, and the Hot Toys 14″ Predator 2 Figure. Tonight I’m going to share with you my thoughts on the Elder on Throne piece on video!
What I’ve done here is divided up the video in to 3 parts because my little camera that records video is only good for 2 minutes at a time. PLEASE NOTE you MUST have the DIVX codec installed on your computer! It’s a free codec that allows you to play videos that are compressed with Divx and you can download it for free at Divx.com. If you try to play these videos and they don’t play back properly, then you need to install Divx.

Too lazy to watch the videos or on 56k? The bottom line is this thing is nothing short of a RIPOFF at $129 or so, and it’s a joke of a paint job and the Predator’s sculpt is brutal. This is a plastic toy with no articulation worth about $30, and I am absolutely FLOORED that they will get away with this. Seriously guys, this is on the same level as a $25 McFarlane Spawn action figure box set… it’s the exact same material and paint style etc. In fact, they are probably made in the same factory. Steer clear of this, WAY clear.
Yes I’m serious… it sucks and I am still in disbelief that this costs $129. YIKES! I think there’s going to be a lot of pissed off people when they find out they spent that kind of cabbage on a plastic action figure with no articulation.
On a side note, the P2 rocks and I’ll try to review that ASAP!

I had my doubts when I read “plastic” on a website and someone on ebay said they had to heat the hand up for it to hold the spear, thanks for saving us from a rip-off, they’re £100 ($200) in the UK. Great to see a review in a different and more personal medium.
Man that’s disapointing coming from Hot Toys. I’m going to cancel my order with Alterego. That quality isnt worth my $110. Thanks for the heads up Dan!

I feel the same way Dan. I got mine last week and was disappointed to say the least.But my P2 arrived the next day and Yes it ROCKS. Don’t waste your money on the crappy Elder satue. Predator 2 figure is well worth the money.

I think you got different version of the statue. Due to the ammount of different manufactorers, they may come in the same type of box but different quality, that conclude that ppl are using the poor quality ones and sell it the same price as the original one.
Hi Dan, I am a big fan of your vids, everyday I come looking at your site for some New Predator Narin kit that is out. I was rather a little disappointed that back in the days when u had those other predators by Narin, u didn’t make a review of any of them. Like the Axerator predator, the F…king awesome Wolf Predator by Narin. Kick Ass statue non the less. The hunter Rogue or whatever that predator’s name and all of those others that u used to have. But anyway I heard that u’r going to review a half body predator wolf. I Hope it is what I am think off……hope is the Narin two guns wolf predator. I hope is that one, really looking forward to it. Later! By the way, “YES” that elder predator throne thing does sucks big time. The only big problem I had with that predator elder is that his covering thing he has between his legs is way…..too small!
